The inspiration behind Onee is deeply personal. The name Onee means “older sister” in Korean—a warm, familiar term shared between two women—and that sense of comfort and care is at the heart of everything they do. Korean food is the one cuisine the owners never get tired of. No matter where they travel, they find themselves searching for Korean restaurants, craving crispy fried chicken, hearty stews, and deeply satisfying flavors. Bringing that experience home to Fargo was the spark that brought Onee to life.

Something many people don’t know is that every recipe at Onee was chosen because it’s food the owners genuinely crave and eat themselves—not simply what’s trending. Onee Korean Fried Chicken & Bar officially opened its doors on September 18, 2025. Since day one, many of the same familiar faces have continued to return, which has been incredibly meaningful to the team. While the heart of the restaurant has stayed the same, the menu continues to evolve—refined and shaped by customer feedback as the business grows.

What truly sets Onee apart is its diverse menu. In addition to crowd favorites like tteokbokki and cheese tonkatsu, Onee offers dishes you won’t easily find elsewhere in town, such as Budae-jjigae (army stew) and the increasingly popular Doenjang-jjigae. From fried mandu to rich, comforting stews, there’s something for every craving.

This place was amazing- super modern/minimalist decor! All of our food arrived less than 5 minutes after ordering! We got fried Mandu, beef bulgogi tacos for apps. My husband got the spicy Korean Chicken sandwich and I ordered beef Bibimbap! The beef melted on my tongue it was so tender!!
